About the Event
It is time again to recognize all the dedicated people in the Virginia Wine Industry who care for the vineyards and work in the wineries and cellars across the state continuing to amaze the world with Virginia wines. This March, we are proudly showcasing the wines of beautiful Sunset Hills Vineyard.
Owners, Mike and Diane Canney, planted their first vines in Purcellville in 1999 with a vision of making fine wine in a manner which was gentle on the land. Their commitment to sustainability is inspiring–from their Certified Wildlife Habitats on the property, the use of biological insects rather than pesticides, to composting wine pomace and their solar powered tasting room, just to name a few.
Not only are their environmental practices impressive, so are their wines! With the leadership of Loudon County’s 2019 Winemaker of the Year, Corry Craighill, Sunset Hills has been crafting some delicious award winning wines. Corry, a native of Virginia, is a true advocate for its wine industry. Her travels and experiences working in vineyards across the globe led her back to VA to apply her knowledge and passion for winemaking in both the fields and in the cellar to continue to grow the wine industry at home.
We hope you’ll join us this March as we tip our hats to local winemaking and taste some of the finest Virginia has to offer!
